Hi David,
Just reconnected with Lisa McKee last night and she told me about this site. What a beautiful way to remember Sandy! We had so many fun times at Albion, especially senior year in the house. I'm sorry for your loss; I had read about it in Io Triumphe. There are a group of us attempting to plan a trip to Albion for the 25 year reunion. Let us know if you would consider it. It was great to see the photos of your life together and your son, Ethan. I will keep you both in my thoughts. I'll not only remember Sandy's smile, but also her great laugh!
Best,
Lori Gedda

Its a saterday night here. Its crazy that it has been years since my moms death and there has not been one day since I have not thought about her. She touched so many people. She was more then just a person she was my mom and I am so proud to say that. Even though it was only 16 yrs that I knew her, they will be the years that I will always cherish.
There is no other woman like her. Even though she was sick she still would get up and acted like nothing was wrong. To me that means she was so strong. She also would talk to me when I had any trouble. I went through alot and she was behind me every step of the way. When I fell she picked up, when I cried she wiped away my tears. She was so proud of me. Even when I told her I was gay, know what she told me? She said I love you no less. I'm proud my son is gay.
We always play the what if games like What if I had one more chance to talk etc. Well I stopped playing that game. I now just know that every second my mom was on earth it wont be forgotten. She was a wife, but especially she was my mom.
I love you mom
Love
Ethan Luce

It's Thanksgiving weekend and I would just like to express thanks to God and Sandy for blessing me with the honor of knowing such a beautiful Christian woman. Sandy humbles me with her faithfulness, charity and kindness in all circumstances. She is a saint! In her years here she has done more to show what it means to love than many of us can in a much longer life time. Jesus, said even a thief can give to a thief. We are called to give to those who would take from us, to love under any circumstance.
As we move into Advent I hope I can prepare a place more deeply in my life for the kind of divine love that shone through Sandy in her love for David and Ethan and for those she served. Peace!
Love in Jesus,
her brother-in-law

What a wonderful way to honor someone you love so much.
You may not know why she died... but you know why she lived!
Bless you David and your family.

I stumbled upon this site through looking at scrapbook videos on you tube. I had no idea that I would be sitting here typing this to you and your family. With tears in my eyes.
I am deeply saddened for you and your son. His dance was a beautiful expression of his love.
I was moved to type this even though I do not know you. I could tell what a wonderful person Sandy was through your beautiful video and pictures. Her spirit still lives on. So much so that it compelled me to reach out to you, a stranger, and offer my sincere condolences.
Your family is now a part of my prayers.
God Bless!!!

I became acquainted with Sandy through her becoming a Daughter of the King. I was president at the time and invited her to go with me to visit Betty Newman, who had helped reestablish our chapter back in 1992. I can still "see" Sandy sitting at Betty's feet, totally captivated by the wisdom of this wonderful woman. I think that both Sandy and Betty were quite taken with one another and can imagine the two of them enjoying the blessed company of heaven together today. That afternoon so long ago was truly a blessed, spiritual experience for all of us.

I met David and Sandy when they joined our church. Sandy and I immediately bonded when we discovered our mutual difficulty in having children and that we both had adopted sons. We were instant friends! A few months later David, through God's grace, began working in our business. As couples, we went to a convention in Las Vegas, where Sandy and I spent the weekend shopping, eating and talking while our husbands went to business workshops. I realize now what a treasure that time with her was! As her health issues became increasingly worse, she began to withhddraw from social contact. On hindsight, I wish I had been more proactive in staying in contact with her. Instead I backed off and respected her need for privacy.
David showed unconditional love and devotion to Sandy, never complaining at his role as her care giver. In spite of her health issues, Sandy showed courage and bravery. David is also a remarkable man, and has been a blessing to everyone in our business.
Our prayers go out to David and Ethan for the troubled times ahead as they slowly heal from this tragic loss of a beautiful young wife and mother. And I mourn the loss of a good friend.

I am Sandy's brother-in-law, and have known her since the early 80's. Unfortunately, There was often several hours of travel, between us, and I didn't have a chance to know her well. In the few years that Dave, Sandy and Ethan did live in Grand Rapids, I found Sandy to be a generous and loving soul. I am thankful to have had that time with them.
When Dave and Sandy moved to Texas, I lost touch with them. I heard mostly about their trials, not there joys. This memorial has helped me refocus on what a joy Sandy was, and how we were all lucky to have known her. Especially my brother Dave. Thanks for putting this together Dave

I met and admired Sandy through her mother in law, Kay. The stories of David and Sandy's devotion to each other have been an inspiration in my life. This memorial, David, is the ultimate love letter to Sandy. Thank you for sharing the story of your lives with us.

Sandy and I started scrapbooking together when we both lived in Grand Rapids. Sandy was very creative and her scrapbooks were beautiful. As we spent time together, I learned a lot from her. We always had fun working on pages often getting silly over the pictures or adornments. I miss those days.
